A Ministry of Chileleko Crochet
I started this ministry in February 2025, fueled by my lifelong passion for yarn and the joy that crocheting brings. After connecting with missionaries in Zambia, Africa, and understanding the needs of new mothers, I felt compelled to contribute in a meaningful way. This inspired me to create cozy little hoodie jackets for their babies.
As the project evolved, I decided to expand my efforts and assemble complete care packages for newborns. Each package includes:
- A handmade hoodie jacket and hat
- A full set of clothing for a newborn
- Scratch mittens
- Socks
- A flannel receiving blanket
- Additional essentials like hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, gloves, masks, and umbilical cord clips

The response from new moms has been heartwarming; they truly appreciate receiving these thoughtfully crafted items for their babies. Each package contains a card featuring Ephesians 2:10 in the local language, reminding them that they are created by our Heavenly Father with a purpose.
To foster a connection, I also include a photo of my husband and I, so they can see who is behind this effort. As I crochet each jacket, I pray for the babies that they grow strong and healthy, but more importantly know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Once the packages are distributed by the local missionaries, I receive the name of a mother and her baby, allowing me to continue lifting them up in prayer.
This ministry has become a beautiful intersection of creativity, love, and faith. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, by partnering with missionaries in several countries in southern Africa.
